2 Before 2

We took Rob to the ENT today. He had his hearing checked yesterday and passed so now we can get him started with the speech therapy. The 2 before 2 in the title is because Rob will be having his second surgery before he turns 2. The doctor said his tonsils are HUGE and need to come out. The are so big that they almost touch his uvula. He said that is probably what is causing him to wake up during the night because he can't breathe very well. Poor kid. He will have the surgery on July 20th in the morning. They will admit him and watch him for 8-9 hours and then decide if he needs to stay overnight or not. Knowing him, we will be staying overnight. I'm not too worried about it. The cleft palate repair was more of a big deal to me than this. I mean, Nate and I both had our tonsils out when we were kids. So hopefully this will fix our nighttime problem and after it is done we all will finally be able to sleep all night long!!!

So here are just some random pictures of the kids from the last little while. Nothing too special. We went to a Salt Lake City Bees game about a month ago. Rob loved it. There was fireworks after the game. Rob was too tired and didn't care and Bella just watched them. We went and got their pictures taken with their cousins last week. Rob was a stinker for them. He would not sit or stand still to take the pictures. The lady was sooo good though. She managed to get one good group shot and an individual shot of each of the kids too. We should get them back this week. The kids all had on their Easter clothes (which all coordinated). Oh, Bella can sit all by herself too. She has been doing it for a while, but I forgot to post about it. Still no rolling though.

San Antonio

So a few weeks ago Nate and I got to go to San Antonio, TX (by ourselves) because Nate had to present his poster of the case study he did at the NATA Annual Conference. San Antonio is such a great city. If you stay downtown, you don't need a car. Everything is pretty much within walking distance. They have this beautiful river walk that goes all through the city too. We walked on it pretty much everyday. They of course have the Alamo, which we went and saw. For some reason, I pictured the main building to be a lot bigger than it actually is. They also have a Ripley's Believe it or Not museum and a Wax museum that we went to. They were a lot of fun. We also took a boat tour of the river. It told us a lot about the city. We really enjoyed it. The first night we were there, we went to the minor league baseball team's game. It was really really boring so we left early. It was cool to see all the jets flying by though. It made us feel like we were back home. The kids did well while we were gone. Nate's parents watched them for us. Overall, we had a great time. It was nice to get away just the two of us. We considered it to be an early anniversary celebration (our anniversary is July 14). We also went to the restaraunt at the top of the Towers of America and had dinner. It is kind of like the Space Needle. It rotates around so you get to see a 360 degree view of the city. We loved it. San Antonio is a great place to go for vacation. The only downer is that it is SOOOOOO HOT!!!

Bella is 6 months old!

Well, our baby girl is 6 months old now. She turned 6 months on the 2nd. It's amazing how fast time goes by. She is such a great baby. She sleeps GREAT through the night. She actually sleeps better than Rob. More on that later. She eats a lot. She has been drinking 6 oz bottles for a long time now and even does 8 oz sometimes. We started her on baby food a while ago and she loves it. She still sits there while we eat and watched us intently while smacking her lips/tongue. It's really funny to watch. She loves to smile and has the cutest laugh/giggle. She likes to babble and blow spit bubbles. She loves to watch her big brother and is always smiling and laughing at him when he is close to her. Her hair is getting more and more red everyday. She has a natural curl in the back. She does this thing where she rocks from side to side while you hold her. It's funny. She wears a size 12 months clothes and size 2 shoes. She still does not roll over at all. Not even close. She does like to sit up and can sit pretty well if she is supported a little bit. She has LOTS of rolls and they are so cute. I just love them. Here are her stats:

Weight: 19 lbs 13 oz 97 percentile
Length: 27 3/4 inches 97 percentile
Head: 43 cm 64 percentile

She is a big girl but the doctor isn't too worried about her. She is growing on a consistent curve. She has a little bit of dry skin and we think she might have allergies too. We are starting her on Zyrtec to see if that helps. This was about the age we had to start Rob on it too. She is a blessing to our family and we love her lots and lots.

Waiting for the doctor.

Hi world!

Whoa!

Her shirt says smile if you think I'm cute.

She would not sit still for these pictures but we did get this good one.

P.S. Here is a little update on Rob. He is now 21 months old. We took him to the doctor the same day as Bella to get him checked out. He has had this rash for about a month now. He also does not sleep through the night. He hasn't for a long, long, long time. Turns out the rash is Eczema probably due to allergies. She is referring us to an ENT about the sleep problem. We think it started after he had his cleft palate fixed. She said we could try giving him a little Benadryl if we wanted to see if that helped. IT DID NOT! It has the opposite affect on him and he was up for hours during the nights we gave it to him. So that is the story with him. I will let you know what the ENT says. Also, he weighed in at 23 lbs 8 or 9 oz. Bella is going to outweigh him soon! Now Nate and I are just getting ready for our trip to San Antonio.

White Sox Game

While we were back in Chicago, we got to go to a White Sox game. The Cubs were out of town when Nate was there so we couldn't go see them. This was Rob's second game (third if you want to count when I was pregnant with him) and Nate and Bella's first (second for Bella if again you count when I was pregnant with her). Rob went when we were back for a visit last August when he was 11 months old. We had GREAT seats (thanks Peter). They were first row on the club level. Rob had a blast and loved every minute of it. Bella was fussy most of the time but did ok. The game was great too. We saw Jermaine Dye hit a grand slam. They ended up winning. One of the funniest things was watching Rob after the game when we were walking down the ramps. He was doing his little run and loving being with all those people. It was so cute to watch. Over all it was a great night. Thanks again Peter. We love you!

Watching the game so intently. Actually, it was the people below us he was watching.

This is so cool.

Watching with daddy.

Bella with Grace. We love you Grace! Bella misses you.

Let me help you with your hat Uncle Peter.

I like your hat.

Home Sweet Home.....Trip to Chicago!

So here it it. I am finally updating about our trip to Chicago. I flew back on Mother's Day with my parents and the kids. They were pretty good on the plane. Bella slept on my dad most of the flight and Rob discovered the window shades. My brother, Peter, picked us up from the airport and had made us dinner too. It was really nice. His girlfriend, Grace, joined us for dinner too. Nate flew in and joined us on the 20th. We flew back on the 25th. The only big thing we did while we were there was go to a White Sox game. Other than that, we mostly just hung out and spent time with my grandma, Nini. My parents built a swing-set a few years ago and once Rob discovered it, he didn't want to do anything else. If he didn't want to get out of the swing, he would grip the ropes and wrap his legs under the swing so it was really really hard to get him out. I got to fulfill my food fixes of Qdoba, Chipotle (we have it here but it is a bit of a drive to get to), Stir Crazy, Elmhurst Chop Suey, Panera, Portillos, and Steak 'n Shake. I didn't get to see many friends, but I did get to see one I haven't seen since High School. It was really nice to catch up. Rob became a Grandpa's boy pretty fast and Bella just loved everyone. It was nice to be there with nice weather and just relax. I loved spending some good quality time with my grandma too. I took tons of pictures so sorry there are so many on this post. There is even a whole batch I didn't post any from. We had a great time and look forward to our next visit there hopefully at Christmas. Enjoy the many pictures and leave comments too. I love comments!

On the way there on the airplane with Grandma and Grandpa.
Rob loved opening and closing the window shades.
He LOVED that swing.
I love the expression on his face.

He loved going down the slide by himself.
Bella liked the swing too.
Nate and Bella.
Just chillin on the chair.
Julia, Grace's daughter, with the kids. She is so cute.
Rob just came over and laid down next to Bella.
First time I ever saw him do this. So precious!
She fell asleep like this while I was putting Rob to bed and my dad was watching her.
Talking to Grace.
Just hanging out.
So funny. She was watching a basketball game on TV and just sat there so serious gripping the burp cloth.
Rob just laid down on the floor and fell asleep.
He loved playing with the kid chairs. He got mad if you tried to sit on one of them.
I gave him one of those cheese and breadsticks packs and this is what he did. He didn't even try them, just painted his face with them. It gave him a bad rash though so no more of those for him.
Laughing and smiling at Nini. Love this picture.
Uncle Peter and Bella.
Rob playing with Uncle Peter. He loves his Uncle Peter.
Grandpa and Bella.
Bella on the airplane on the way back to Utah.
Rob was playing with the lights.
He liked when I would take a picture of us.

Thanks again mom and dad for a wonderful trip. We had so much fun! Can't wait to see you again.

Almost forgot this picture of Julia and Bella.
